Description

Ieuan was raised in the coastal town of Rhos-on-Sea in north Wales but his roots lie deep in the county of Meirionnydd where both his parents grew up in farming families. He graduated from the Royal Northern College of Music in 2019 after completing his Masters degree with a full scholarship. On leaving the college he had numerous operatic roles under his belt, along with countless awards, including the Andrew Lloyd Webber Foundation Scholarship, the James Martin Oncken Song Prize, the Drapers’ De Turckheim Scholarship, and in his final year he was awarded second prize in the prestigious Elizabeth Harwood Memorial Prize.

Eisteddfodau have played an influential part in Ieuan’s upbringing and have greatly contributed to his love of singing and performing. From travelling to various local Eisteddfodau in order to make some pocket money while studying, to singing on the main pavilion stage at the National, each one has had an impact. He has had many successes over the years, including winning the Musical Theatre Category at the Urdd National Eisteddfod, which led to being selected as one of six finalists in the Bryn Terfel Scholarship. At the National Eisteddfod, Ieuan has won the Osborne Roberts Memorial Prize, the Wilbert Lloyd Roberts Scholarship, and in 2019 he reached the pinnacle by winning the W. Towyn Roberts Memorial Prize.

Ieuan has already been extremely fortunate to perform at many exciting venues, such as the Bridgewater Hall in Manchester, The Royal Albert Hall, and in 2018 he realised a dream when he shared the stage with Sir Bryn Terfel in the opening show of the National Eisteddfod at the Wales Millennium Centre in Cardiff. He has also performed outside the UK, in countries such as Norway, France, Italy, Canada and the USA.

Ieuan is now embarking on a career in the music world with a desire to perform in opera, musical theatre and concerts throughout the world. The repertoire within this album reflects his versatility and his passion for various genres, and on occasion, his desire to cross genres, as you may see in some of the pieces on the album.
